The Govt. Degree College Dharmai was established in the year 2008 and the class work started in the month of June only. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad, then Hon’ble Minister CM of J&K State on 6th of June, 2008 in presence of Thakur Gulchian Singh Charak, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Sh. Ajaz Ahmad Khan, M.O.S. for Higher Education and many other Higher dignitaries of the State. The college is affiliated to the University of Jammu, Jammu. Presently, the College offers a few subjects in Humanities and Social Science streams only. The college is situated in the foot hills of Shivaliks at a distance of 50 Kms from Reasi town. While the College was functioning from ITI Building, about 167 Kanals of land were acquired for the new College campus. Work on the new building was initiated by JKPCC. Despite facing many hurdles, the building was finally completed in 2021. It was in March 2024 that the College finally shifted to its own building, thanks to the efforts of the then Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and the faculty.The new building has 6 spacious classrooms besides two dedicated Halls for the Library and Debates and Seminars. The College has a picturesque view in the back drop of snow clad mountains on the bank of Anss, a tributary of river Chinab. It is an ideal place for pursuing higher education.<.
